In the Summer of 2023, we wrapped up several projects with Beacon Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. The keystone element of this project was an 80-foot history wall. Additionally, we did full wall wraps outside their children’s wing, “KidLife,” and custom aluminum directional signage around the campus.

Our team participated in every aspect of this project, from discovery through installation. We worked closely with their team for several months helping them distill their 75-year history in a concise, yet informative way. We were excited to help them tell their story in a visually compelling way.

The foundation for most of this project was our wall fabric. Wall fabric delivers beautiful graphics with a slight texture to hide imperfections in the drywall. To provide depth and dimension, we also built out three columns along the wall which we used to highlight the biographies of the five different pastors in their history. We also wrapped these columns with wall fabric. The paragraph sections of the wall were printed on custom-sized aluminum panels for a very vibrant print with high contrast.  By utilizing standoffs for the aluminum panels and several acrylic portraits, we were able to add even more dimension throughout the wall.

The size and scope of this project required that our design team be very meticulous and methodical throughout the process.

Every measurement was crucial, and all items had to be made exactly to scale to ensure that the combination of rigid and adhesive materials worked in harmony. We were also challenged with the task of including dozens of pictures from many different decades, all while maintaining consistency and cohesiveness.

While the wall fabric is an easier installation than our heat-applied vinyl, the size of this project brought its challenges. A small mistake in spacing or application early on would cause additional complications further down the line.

We absolutely loved working with the team at Beacon. Helping their vision become a reality in such a big way was incredibly fulfilling and we can’t wait to partner with them on the next project.
